About Countdown Timer
Countdown Timer keeps what you are working toward in view. Give the timer a label, set the time, and that label stays above the countdown. When time is up, a beep sounds and a dialog asks what you want to do next.
It stays accurate if you switch tabs, because it works from the finishing time rather than counting ticks. A timer also survives a page reload, and focus mode fills the screen so only the time and label remain.
How to use Countdown Timer

- 03Select Start. When time is up, restart it, add more time, or finish.

Frequently asked questions
- Will the timer still work if I switch to another tab?
- Yes. It works from the finishing time, so background tabs do not make it drift, and the alarm still sounds. The tab must stay open, so turn on desktop notifications if you may be in another app.
- Why did I not hear the alarm?
- Browsers only allow sound after you interact with a page, and starting the timer counts as that. If you reloaded the page while a timer was running, click anywhere on the page once. You can check your volume with Test sound.
- What happens if I reload or close the page?
- A running or paused timer is saved in this browser, and continues when you come back. If it finished while you were away, the completion dialog appears when you return.
- Can I share a timer with someone?
- Yes. Set the label and duration, then select Copy link to this timer. Anyone who opens the link gets the same timer, ready to start.
- What are the keyboard shortcuts?
- Space starts or pauses, R resets, and F opens focus mode. Press Escape to leave focus mode.
